Review: Urban Decay – The NAKED Palette

“You can look great NAKED! This long, lean, seductive case is packed with TWELVE gorgeous neutrals. Shades range from delicate champagnes to dark, gritty gunmetal, and feature FIVE NEW shades with names like Darkhorse, Virgin and Buck. We’ve also included a range of textures: everything from glitter to shimmer to matte. The chocolaty velvet case is emblazoned with the word “NAKED” in gold foil lettering. (Just wait ’til your friends see you pull this sexy thing out of your bag. Jealous!) The mirrored case also includes a professional quality, cruelty-free Good Karma Eyeshadow Brush, AND a travel-size Eyeshadow Primer Potion in original formula. This is a shadow palette EVERYONE can use, and a truly spectacular gift. Experiment with office-appropriate neutrals, summertime bronzy looks, or sultry smokiness. With such a diversity of neutral shades at your fingertips, there’s more to neutral than meets the eye.” – Urban Decay

Before getting this best-selling palette at the beginning of the summer I had little experience with the Urban Decay line, but since then I’ve fallen madly in love with their products and this palette has become a go-to staple for my bridal kit. Great palette and pretty packaging aside, for $48 this is also a great deal (regular full-size shadows retail for about $17 individually).

The colors are well pigmented and the 12 FULL SIZE eyeshadows provide a great range of makeup options from light and neutral to dramatic and smoky. The texture is soft and velvety with little fall-out, and all the colors blend and layer beautifully together. The shadows are complimentary to a huge range of skintones as well; I’ve used the palette on the palest to the darkest of skin and the palette has never let me down.

My only complaint would probably be that the majority of the shadows have shimmer in them and I feel that there aren’t as many options to create matte eye looks. Aside from that, I’m in love with this palette, and I would recommend it to anyone that wants good “neutral” eyeshadows for their makeup collection.

I jumped on the NAKED bandwagon a little late so my palette came with their Good Karma eyeshadow brush instead of the original 24/7 liners. The palette also comes with a mini eyeshadow primer.

The colors are as follows:
1. Virgin – Satin Chamois
2. Sin – Champagne
3. Naked – Matte Buff Nude;
4. Sidecar – Cocoa w/Golden Sparkle Sheen
5. Buck – Matte Nutmeg
6. Half Baked – Subtle, Lustrous Bronze
7. Smog –  Deep, Coppery Bronze
8. Darkhorse – Bronze Patina
9. Toasted – Rich Copper
10. Hustle – Plum Brown Satin
11. Creep – Onyx w/Gold Sparkle
12. Gunmetal – Gunmetal Gray w/Silver Glitter

Below are swatches of the colors used on top of their eyeshadow primer.

I’m planning on creating some tutorials for some of my favorite looks using the palette, so stay tuned!

Enjoy!
